Hi! I'm Cindi, one of the Treatment Coordinator/Patient Advocates at Berkinshaw Orthodontics. I've been a member of the Berkinshaw Orthodontic Team since January 2002, and I think I have the best job here! My job is to smooth the way as you enter the world of Orthodontics by answering your questions, working out the financial arrangements, coordinating your first appointments and communicating with your dentist as you begin your journey to a beautiful smile! I was born in Tokyo, Japan but have lived in the Annapolis area since 1985. I share my life with my husband Rick, and our adorable Wheaten Terriers, Jelly and Finnegan. I love to cook, garden and travel. Our daughter, Alex recently was married and we are looking forward to becoming grandparents soon!
Welcome to Berkinshaw Orthodontics! My name is Claire and I am one of the Treatment Coordinators/Patient Advocates. I am a military brat and had five elementary schools before we settled down in Fairfax County, Virginia. I graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and spent 23 years in printing and publishing before I had my “After 40 surprise”. I found Orthodontics getting back in to the work force, and I love it! There is something to be said for making patients comfortable with the process of Orthodontics and making them feel great about their smile too! I live in Southern Anne Arundel County and when I am not at work, I am a Lacrosse/Volleyball or Basketball mom. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, cooking, swimming, running and boating.
Hello! My name is Joyce. I have spent many years in the orthodontic field as everything from an assistant to front desk and then billing and insurance. After a hiatus of four years, I'm back in the capacity of Front Desk Coordinator. I really enjoy working with our patients, scheduling and guiding them through the often confusing world of insurance. I enjoy the challenge of helping them navigate their way to the smile of their dreams! I grew up in Baltimore but have been an Annapolitan for sixteen years. I love golfing, boating and skiing with my husband Tommy, Pilates and playing with my fur babies Estelle and Lilly who also act as my alarm clock everyday, even weekends.
Hello! My name is Maureen. I joined the Berkinshaw Orthodontics Team in 1995 as a Bookkeeper. Currently I am working part time in financial support. My husband, Don & I live in Davidsonville. We have two daughters, Michelle and Stephanie. When I'm not at the office I stay busy with our five beautiful grandchildren, Maria, Alex, Andrea, Maddie and Quinn and our dog, Chaya. I also love to spend time at our beach house with my family and friends.
Hi! I'm Teri, the Lab Technician. I've been working for Dr. B. since 1985. I make all those cool custom retainers you get when you finish wearing braces. I also do what we call "Records". If you are considering braces, I'm the one who takes the x-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth that we use to make the diagnostic models Dr. B. uses to plan what kind of orthodontic treatment you may need. I enjoy what I do at Berkinshaw Orthodontics and coming to work is always fun, but when I'm not working I love to spend time at the beach. Family is a big part of my life. Mom and Dad live close by. I have two fun sisters, who also come with two great brothers-in-law. I also have one nephew, three nieces and I'm even a great-aunt. Well, that about sums it up... but remember... as Snoopy says, "You're only young once, and if you do it right, once is enough!"
Hi! My name is Jan. I began my career as an Orthodontic Assistant with Dr. Berkinshaw's former partner, Dr. Toomey over 35 years ago. I spend most of my time in the office working with patients, which is great since I love meeting new people. I have one sister and fortunate to still have both parents. I live in Wye Mills, home of the famous Wye Oak Tree, which unfortunately was struck by lightening a few years ago. My husband Jamie and I, have two daughters Jocelyn and Randal and two beautiful granddaughters. We have a beagle named Brandi and eight other rabbit dogs. Jamie and I enjoy spending time together on weekends traveling to dog trials with our champion Beagles. My favorite things are: horses, dogs, red sports cars and vacationing in the mountains.
Well hello there! I'm Kathy and I am an Orthodontic Assistant. I've enjoyed being a part of Dr. Berkinshaw's Team since 1985. I love working with people and sharing their day to day lives and adventures. My husband, Mike and I have made our home in the Annapolis area since 1994 where we were blessed with the birth of our wonderful son Michael. When I'm not at the office having fun with our great patients I like boating, tropical island vacations, Jimmy Buffett and spending time with my family.
Hi! I’m Marylou and joined the practice as an Orthodontic Assistant in July 2014. It’s only partially true that I was hired because I have a coffin in my garage. I like to think it was mostly because I have been in the dental field for over thirty years and taking dental impressions is my super power. But, I will concede that Dr. Berkinshaw’s love for Halloween decorating might have influenced his decision. I feel very fortunate to be part of such an experienced and highly skilled clinical team that is committed to patient care, continuous learning and keeping current with advancing technology.
My husband, Lonnie and I live in Gambrills with two tabby cats and a yellow lab. We recently became empty-nesters when my son Tyler enlisted in the Marine Corps. We still are struggling to fill all the time we once spent following our three sport athlete from season to season and rely on Netflix to provide us with new opportunities to binge watch all the television shows we missed when they were trendy. We have even gone so far as to resume a D & D campaign-feel free to ask me about my Rogue character, Sylvie. My husband plays several different instruments and I often find myself behind a computer, sound board or spotlight providing tech support for his band performances. On the weekends you might find me at the theater, the game, listening to live music, the Ren Faire, the pool, church or reading a good book; just trying to enjoy my free time before someone turns me into a grandma.
